Juan José Amador

Juan José Amador (Seville 1960) belongs to one of the bigger flamenco families: the Amador Family. He is a classic flamenco lover and sings professionally since he was 12 years when he started at the famous Alameda de Hércules of Seville where all flamenco artists of the moment gathered. At age 13^th he started to sing at the tablao Martinete and afterwards he performed at the best places like Gitanillos, where he shared stage with the Montoya Family, El Arenal and Los Gallos. It is at the tablaos where his outstanding conditions led him to work with all the best artists of the moment: Manuela Carrasco, Mario Maya, Matilde Coral, El Güito and Manolete. Singing for dancers is one of the things that Juan José has never forget and all along the years we can say that this singer has sang for all the best flamenco dancers and companies.

Cristina Hoyos, Javier Barón, Merche Esmeralda, Farruco, Israel Galván, all great dancers have called him to improve the music of their shows. In the years 85 and 86 he joined the famous world tour of Flamenco Puro where he shared stage with Fernanda de utrera, Chocolate, Farruco Manuela Carrasco, El Güito, Angelita Vargas, Adela la Chaqueta and some other besides his participation in the important Cumbres Flamencas de Madrid.

Amador is not a lover of recordings but he has realized two recordings: in 1975 with the guitar of Raimundo Amador and in 1976 with the genius at that time Paco Cepero. He also collaborated in the historical recording “Rock Gitano” of his family the Pata Negra in 1980. In 1992 he sang in the famous recording “Suite Sevilla” of Rafael Riqueni and Jose Maria Gallardo.

Although his work for dancers takes a lot of time of his life, he has never forget to perform as a soloist. In this past years we can recall his performances in  Festival Flamenco Caja Madrid 2008 , at the Jornadas Flamencas Caja Madrid 2009 of Barcelona or in the show  “Familia Amador” realized at thel Festival Mont de Marsan in 2008.

But Amador has become in all this years, among all, in an artist of artists. Beloved by his colleagues and required to collaborate in all type of productions to give shape to the music of recordings, shows and more, Juan José has become in the most interesting singer of his generation, he has a powerful flamenco voice with very wide range used to illustrate his huge knowledge of flamenco singing like few singers can this days.
