Sebastián Cruz

Sebastian Cruz, Beas (Huelva) 1977. Sebastian learned flamenco singing within his family and since he is 12 years old he has performed in clubs, parties and Festivals.  He is a singer with an special taste for classic flamenco which he can perform like a master thanks to the qualities of his voice and his interest in learning all the popular and traditional stiles. He was granted during 4 years in the Cristina Hereen Foundation of Seville where he received teachings of José de la Tomasa, Calixto Sánchez, Paco Taranto and Esperanza Fernández among others. Meanwhile, since 99 to 2001, he takes part in several singing contests where he obtains important awards like Primer premio de fandango, Concurso Valverde del Camino. 1999, Premio de fandangos at the contest of San Silvestre de Guzmán. 2000, the Primer Premio de Fandangos and Premio Especial to the best Fandango de Alosno of the Concurso Nacional Paco Toronjo (Alosno). 2001 and the Premio de Fandangos, Concurso Fundación Cristina Heeren.

Since 2003 he develops his professional career performing in several productions of dancers and guitar players like Manolo Franco, Eduardo Rebollar, Jose Luis Postigo, Tino Van Der Sman and also performs in the singing conferences of Calixto Sánchez. All along these years he works as a singer in the most important flamenco clubs of Seville like “Casa de la Memoria”, “Sol Café Cantante” y “Los Gallos”, where he performs with groups and as a soloist.

Due to his great technique and powerful voice, lots of artists call him to work in their productions. In 2006 he becomes “guest artist” of Ballet Nacional de España where he works in the best theatres of Spain and the world in productions like La Leyenda and El Café de Chinitas of José Antonio or Sevilla-Madrid-Sevilla of Antonio Canales and Fernando Romero. During this time he collaborates with artists like Juan Manuel Cañizares, Chano Domínguez, Juan José Amador and Esperanza Fernández.

In 2007 he sings for the first time as a soloist in Clamores Club of Madrid with the guitar of Diego Losada and he is invited to perform at Chicago Cultural Centre where he achieves a great success. He also performs for the CIA de Choni in the show “Tejidos al Tiempo” which obtains an award of the Bienal de Sevilla 2008. He becomes the singer of the group Cuarteto de José Antonio Rodríguez and takes part in the world tour. In 2009 he performs at El Mercat de las Flors of Barcelona with Chano Domínguez as a guest artist and performs with him several pieces with the piano.
