History

FLAMENCO as a MASTER music, ROOT MUSIC in capital letters. One of the most important root music of the world which has been proving its influence among Spanish music  since XIX century. And in the last few decades influences many other world music showing a territorial expansion like jazz music had around the 50’s of XX century.

Antonio Chacón, La Niña de los Peines, Caracol, Pepe de la Matrona, Pepe Marchena, Tomás Pavón, Fernanda de Utrera, El Gallina, Manuel Torre, Antonio Mairena, Bernardo el de los Lobitos, Manuel Vallejo, Aurelio Sellés, Terremoto, Chocolate, Agujetas, Lebrijano, Camarón y Enrique Morente are some of the major artists that built the flamenco tree of classic flamenco. The tree where all new artist must look at in order to become a master because the artist must know the roots of what he sings

About us

In GURUMUSICA we treat flamenco music in the most respectful way which this form of art requires. We specially like classic flamenco, the flamenco which attained its maturity in the middle of XX century and we could know trough all the famous artists and the recordings that they did.

But we are not alien about the evolution of flamenco music happened since the 70’s, since Camaron and Enrique Morente forced the limits to discover new unexploited territories that Pata Negra and other groups used to mix flamenco  with jazz, blues or rock and roll. Limits that have been always small for curious artists and have always existed and hope they will exist for the good of all kina of music. The flamenco that we call classic is by itself an evolution of the different music that coexisted is some parts of Andalucia in the XVIII century. So evolution and arising of new forms is inherent to this music as any other living art that develops giving form to new stiles that time will forget or Project.

We support all type of creation based on the important legacy of the classic singers. Because we think that the source, the root of flamenco is essential for improving and for any creative work based on the rigour that gives sense to the word FLAMENCO, which is recognized all around the world since many years ago. Moreover, we think that the only way to create genuine flamenco art is having the deep and strong knowledge of the music, stiles and artists that from the beginning of this art have been developing and settling in the cultural patrimony of a people proud of the music they sing and dance.

Our aim is international because flamenco has become in a short period of time one of the most popular music of the world. At the beginning of XX century flamenco was only a music known locally; one hundred years later it is known all around the world as an identity of Spanish culture. There are festivals, schools and flamenco lovers in many countries of the world, from Japan and China passing through France, Germany and Italy to USA, Mexico and Argentina. We want to serve flamenco and make possible that this music could be known in its genuine way in all the countries that want to.
